Ingredients for Chakli
Rice – 1/2 kg
Chana dal – 250 grams
Moong dal – 150 grams
Urad dal – 150 grams
Cumin powder – 2 tbsp
Coriander Powder – 2 tbsp
Butter – 2 tbsp
Red chili powder – 2 tbsp
Salt – as per taste
Oil

how to make chakli
To make Maharashtrian style chakli, first soak moong dal, rice, urad dal and chana dal separately. Soak them for about 6 hours. After that take them out and dry them. When these four ingredients are dried well, put them in a pan and roast them on low flame till they become golden. After that keep them to cool down. When all the things cool down, grind them with the help of mixer grinder or cob batte.
Now take 2 cups of flour in a big vessel and add butter, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and salt as per taste and mix it well. Now divide this dough into two parts. Knead a hard dough by adding little water to the first part. Now make balls of dough and put each ball in the chakli machine and prepare chakli of your favorite size and keep it on a plate or by spreading a cotton cloth.

When one portion of the dough is finished, knead the other dough too hard and prepare chaklis from them according to the above method. (Keep in mind that the dough has to be kneaded in two parts because due to hardness, there may be trouble in making chakli if kept for a long time.) Now put a wok on the gas and heat it by adding oil. When the oil is hot enough, according to the capacity of the pan, add chakalis and fry them. Fry all the chaklis like this. Now keep these chaklis to cool down. Now your chakli dish is ready for Diwali. Keep it in an airtight container to keep it running for a long time.
