Coronavirus Lockdown: This big change happened in your driving license, Center took the decision

New Delhi. The Center has decided to extend the validity of documents like driving license, permit and registration, which expired from February 1, till June 30. The purpose of this initiative is to streamline the movement of essential goods during the ongoing ‘lockdown’ (bandh) for the prevention of coronavirus infection.

In an advisory issued to all the states and union territories on Monday, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has asked them to consider such documents as valid till June 30, whose period has expired on February 1.

This step has been taken to help those citizens who are facing problems in renewal of validity of various documents due to closure of transport offices during the ‘lockdown’ under the Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicles Rules.

The ministry has said that all states are requested to consider those documents valid till 30 June under the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, whose validity has expired on February 1, 2020 and could not be renewed due to the nationwide bandh. Documents whose validity has been extended include certificates of fitness under the Motor Vehicles Act, permits of all kinds, driving licences, registration or other relevant documents.
