Food Allergies : In the festive season, the process of feeding food also goes on between the times of mixing, sometimes we eat for taste, sometimes for health. In the midst of the food-feeding phase, there are some people who have to eat everything thoughtfully. Because they have food allergies. According to the news report published in Hindustan newspaper, a large section of our population is a victim of food allergy. In such a situation, it becomes necessary for us that if there is a person in our knowledge who has a food allergy, then we should have complete information about that food item and the subsequent allergy. So that this problem does not happen again and again.

Dr. Bharti Dixit, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Sciences of CSJM University i.e. Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, explains that allergies are our immune system to food or toxins. That is, there is a reaction of immunity.

According to Dr Bharti, part of the protein in our diet causes allergies, which boosts the immune system. When our immune system considers a food item as its enemy, that is, it considers it to be pathogenic, then it produces allergies in the form of immunity, in which the immune system produces antibodies. Its cells produce histamine.

According to Dr Bharti, there are two types of allergies. The first IgE and the second non-IgE. Our immune system makes antibodies to IgE, which fight allergies. At the same time, our body’s immune system is not capable of fighting nonIgE. Therefore, this type of allergy is more fatal.

Vomiting, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, itching or low BP can be signs of a food allergy. The effect of an allergy can last on your body for a few minutes or even for hours. If its symptoms are severe, it is called anaphylaxis.

Peanut and fish allergy
Some people are allergic to peanuts, this allergy is as common as it is fatal. To avoid this allergy, the consumption of peanuts and its products should be stopped. Something similar is also with fish, some people start having problems like vomiting and diarrhea after eating fish. In such a situation, it is advisable not to consume fish.

Wheat can also harm
Some people may be allergic to wheat due to gluten, a protein found in wheat. It is also called celiac disease. Dr Bharti says that you can also eat multigrain flour as an alternative. Use it after changing it in 15-15 days. For example, for the first 15 days, use gram flour, oats flour, ragi flour and maize together, for the remaining 15 days, eat rotis prepared by mixing linseed, millet, ragi and oats.

Dr Bharti says that soya products are quite heavy, they take time to digest. Along with this, it also has to be kept in mind that in which foods soy is used. So if you are allergic to soy then you need to be more careful.

Nuts are not good either
If you are allergic to dry fruits then it is a matter of concern. This allergic reaction can be fatal. It has to be kept in mind that people with tree-nut allergies will also be allergic to food products made from these nuts, such as nut butter and nut oil etc.

Common milk allergy
When it comes to milk allergy, cow’s milk comes first in this list. Both IgE and non-IgE food allergies can occur in milk. But IgE allergy is the most common in this. The way to avoid this is that you stop using cow’s milk and things made from it. People with IgE allergies have a reaction within 5 to 30 minutes of drinking cow’s milk. They complain of swelling, rashes, vomiting or diarrhea.

Egg is another very important cause of food allergy in children. The protein present in the white part of the egg increases the allergic reaction. You may have respiratory problems due to allergies caused by it. There may be skin problem. Or the colic can bother you. If you are allergic, you can eat the yellow part of the egg, but not the white.
