What is FASTags and what is the purpose?
With this step, the government wants to reduce the situation of traffic and congestion on the National Highway. FASTags will be smartcards or prepaid tags issued by the government, from which toll can be paid. These tags will automatically pay the toll on crossing the toll plaza, so that the vehicles will not have to stop and pay in cash. Please note that once activated, the FASTags will be placed on the windscreen of the vehicle.
How to get FASTags, what is the process?
Vehicle owners can collect from toll plazas, FASTags issuing agency or bank or online market. SBI, HDFC and ICICI issue FASTags. To take the tag from here, you have to first fill the online inquiry form. After the query is generated, you will have to visit the branch of the bank and have the necessary forms. For this, you have to go through the necessary documentation process.
Which documents will be required?
For this, passport size photograph of the owner of the vehicle, registration certificate of the vehicle and PAN, Aadhaar or driving license will be required for verification of identity and address of the owner.
What will be the charge?
Note that the authority issuing the tag issue will charge you a one-time registration fee of Rs.200. Apart from this, a deposit amount will be charged from you according to the type of your vehicle, which will be refunded later on closing the FASTag account. You can recharge FASTags through NetBanking, Debit-Credit Card or NEFT-RTGS.
