New Delhi. With the beginning of the festival, the number of passengers traveling in trains has increased significantly. This can be gauged from the fact that there has been record booking of food in moving trains. According to IRCTC, in the recent two days, one and a half times more food has been booked than before Corona. IRCTC officials expect that soon this booking will reach at par with online food companies.
Indian Railways is continuously increasing the number of trains keeping in view the convenience of the passengers. At present, about 1800 special trains are being operated including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duronto, Mail and Express. Since the festive season is going on, more number of passengers are traveling in trains. With the increase in the number of passengers, record booking of food is also being done in running trains.
According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, between October 8 and 10, 32000 meals have been booked through IRCTC across the country. On normal days this booking used to be 22000 to 24000. Food booked online is being made available in running trains at around 500 railway stations across the country. Through e-catering, passengers can book any food of their choice.
IRCTC is also booking buses
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation will now also book buses in the country. Passengers can easily book for any city through IRCTC’s Rail Connect app. No additional fee will be charged from the passenger for this. Although this service was started long ago as a trial, but now after the trial is successful, it has been started completely.
