In such a situation, jeera rice can be a great option. This is a quick recipe, and it is also very easy to make. Instead of using a cooker, this recipe should be cooked in a pan with a lid, so that each grain of rice can be seen separately after cooking. Ingredients for Jeera Rice Recipe
Basmati rice (long grain) – 1/2 cup
Ghee / Oil – 1 tbsp
Onion small (finely chopped) – 1
Hot water – 1/2 cup
Cashew – 8-10
Salt – as per taste
How to make Jeera Rice
To make jeera rice, first take basmati rice and keep them soaked in water for 15-20 minutes. After that drain its water. Now heat ghee or oil in a pan on medium flame. Now add cashews and fry it well till it becomes light golden in color. After this take out the cashews in a plate.
Fry the cumin seeds in the ghee in which the cashews were fried and add onions and fry till it turns light brown in color. Now put the soaked rice in it and cook it for 3 minutes while stirring it with a ladle. Add 1/4th hot water and salt according to your taste and fry on medium flame for 2 minutes.
Now cover the pan after two minutes and let it cook on low flame for about 10 minutes. During this, do not remove the lid to see the status of rice again and again.
Now turn off the gas and let the pan remain like this for 10 minutes. Now your Jeera Rice is ready. Take it out in a big bowl. Garnish it with fried cashew nuts and serve hot with dal fry. They taste so delicious that sometimes you can eat them without lentils.
