Litti Chokha Recipe: Litti Chokha may have been a dish of Bihar but it has become famous all over the country. The mention of Bihar’s food and drink remains incomplete without it. It is easily available anywhere in Bihar. Litti Chokha tastes different in winter. You must have also tasted Litti Chokha at some point or the other. Whoever tastes it once, his mind is bound to taste it again. If you have never tried making Litti Chokha at home, then we are going to tell you its easy recipe, by following which you will be able to enjoy the Bihari taste of Litti Chokha easily.
In Litti Chokha, the main ingredient in Litti is Sattu. Potatoes are not used in this. This is an easy recipe to prepare at home. If ever there is a small function in the house, then it can be easily enjoyed by making it.

Ingredients for making Litti-Chokha:

Flour – 2 cups
Sattu – 1 cup
Oil – 2 tsp
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Onion finely chopped – 1
Garlic grate – 5
Green chilies chopped – 3
Green coriander finely chopped – 1/2 cup
Ajwain – one and a half tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Pickle masala – 1 tbsp
Salt – as per taste

Big Eggplant Rounded – 1
Potato – 3
Tomato – 2
Onion finely chopped – 1
Ginger finely chopped – 1 piece
Green chilies finely chopped – 2
Garlic chopped – 3
Green coriander – 1 tsp
Lemon – 1
Oil – 1 tbsp
Salt – as per taste

Method of making Litti-Chokha
To make Litti Chokha, first start making Litti. First of all take the flour and sieve it well. Then take it out in a vessel. Now add ghee, salt as per taste and mix it well. Now with the help of lukewarm water knead the dough soft. Now cover this kneaded dough for half an hour and keep it aside.

After this start preparing the litti masala. First of all, take out the sattu in a vessel. Add green chili, coriander, ginger, lemon juice, black salt, cumin, plain salt and pickle masala and mix well. Add a little mustard oil to this mixture as well. Now add a little water to it and make the spices coarse.
Now take the kneaded dough and make medium sized balls from it. Put these balls on the palm and give it a bowl-like shape. Now fill the prepared litti masala in it between one to two spoons. And lift the dough from all sides and close it. Now make it into a round shape. When the dough becomes round, flatten it slightly by pressing it with your palm. Now take an iron vessel, prepare a fire in it with the help of wood or coal. Now bake the dough you have prepared in this fire. Keep checking in between whether the litti is cooked well or not. As the littis are cooked, take them out from the fire and keep them aside.

To make chokha, first fry the brinjal, potato and tomato well. After that remove their skin. Now take them in a vessel and mash them well. Now add onion, coriander, lemon, chilli, salt and oil and mix it well. Take a pan, heat some oil in it and prepare the garlic ginger tempering. Add this tempering to the stove. In this way your chokha is also ready. Now break the litti from the middle and dip it in ghee and serve it with mustard chutney or curd.
