Lord Ganesha got very angry due to this behavior of Chandradev and he cursed Chandradev and said that you are proud of your form, so I curse you that you will lose your form, all your arts will be destroyed and whoever sees you He has to be tarnished. This day was the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.
On receiving the curse, Chandradev realized his mistake and together with all the deities, he worshiped to please Ganapati. He pleased Lord Ganesha and apologized to him for his mistake. Then Bappa asked him to ask for a boon. In such a situation, all the gods asked for a boon to forgive Chandradev and to withdraw and nullify the curse.
Ganpati said that I cannot take back my curse but I can definitely limit it. He said that the arts of Chandradev will decrease for 15 days in a month and will increase for 15 days. The curse of being tarnished by the moon sighting will be valid only on the day of Chaturthi and no one will see the moon on the day of Chaturthi. Gotta throw.
