Hello, I am Anoop Kumar Mishra, I am once again in the health podcast of News18 Hindi with a new question related to your health. Today’s question is… can men get breast cancer? The answer to this question is- yes. Recently, a case of male breast cancer has come to light in Delhi’s Patparganj Max Super Specialty Hospital. In fact, a 70-year-old man living in Delhi had reached the hospital with a complaint of lump in his chest. He had felt a lump in his breast two years ago, but then he ignored this lump.

A few months ago, suddenly this lump started increasing rapidly. This unusual increase made these elderly people worried. Since the Kovid lockdown was going on at that time, the elderly could not reach the hospital for treatment. By the time the lockdown opened, the problem of the elderly increased a lot and he reached Patparganj Max Super Specialty Hospital for treatment. After histopathology and radiology examination at the hospital, grade III cancer in the right breast was confirmed.

This cancer was identified as invasive ductal carcinoma. Treatment of the elderly started after breast cancer was confirmed. In September 2021, the elderly patient was given radical mastectomy treatment. At present, the process of chemotherapy is going on. After the start of the treatment, the elderly are improving rapidly and are now doing all their work. Here 70-year-olds are not the only ones who are suffering from breast cancer. According to the report, one person in every 833 people is suffering from breast cancer.

Now the question is, what are the reasons for sudden breast cancer in men or what are its symptoms. To answer all these questions, we spoke to Dr. Meenu Walia, Senior Director, Oncology Department, Patparganj Max Super Specialty Hospital.
